
The OMCT is seeking to recruit highly motivated, energetic, and creative individual with a commitment to human rights for an internship of three (03) months.
Location: OMCT MENA Office, Tunis.
About the OMCT
The World Organization Against Torture (OMCT) is an international non-profit organization. The OMCT works with 200 member organizations that fight to end torture and ill-treatment, assist victims, and protect human rights defenders at risk, wherever they may be.
Since September 2020, the OMCT’s Libya program works in close collaboration with the Libyan Anti-Torture Network (LAN) to tackle torture and institutionalized violence by state and non-state actors through capacity-building, organizational empowerment, legal aid and advocacy. Through this project, the OMCT aims to plant the seeds for a richer and more resourceful civil society landscape that would allow human rights activists and civil society organizations to path the way for long-term anti-torture activities leading to more transparency and accountability for criminal acts.
TERMS OF REFERENCES
- To assist with the drafting, editing and the translation of briefings and documents of the OMCT Libya program in its programmatic areas (English <=> Arabic).
- To attend meetings and trainings organized by the Libya program and prepare notes.
- To assist with the organization of seminars, trainings, and conferences.
- To curate and prepare weekly press digests on the situation in Libya.
- Potentially, to assist with the documentation of individual cases.
Qualifications required
- University studies/degree in law, international relations, political or social sciences or any related field.
- Good knowledge and understanding of international human rights law.
- Good drafting and editing skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to meet deadlines and work on various tasks in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in the following languages: English and Arabic. French is an asset.
Conditions and applications
The duty station is the OMCT’s office in Tunis. The position is full-time. The OMCT respects the principle of equality in recruitment. The OMCT offers an internship indemnity.
